How to use the Book Builder
The Book Builder is organized into three sections: Frontmatter, Body, and Backmatter.
Frontmatter and Backmatter are made up of Components. Frontmatter might include a table of contents and Backmatter might include endnotes.
The Body of a book in Ketida is made up of Parts and Parts are made up of Chapters. Components, Parts, and Chapters can be edited.
Workflow for Parts and Chapters can be controlled by the Production Editor using the workflow status tool in Book Builder.
Add new blank Components, Parts, or Chapters by clicking the Add button next to a section’s title (Frontmatter, Body, or Backmatter). Once added you can draft copy directly using the editing tools or choose to upload Microsoft Word files to any section. Files can be uploaded in batches. For more information on working with Word files, see the chapter on Importing Microsoft Word Documents.
Select Metadata from the toolbar at the top of the Book Builder screen to add information about the current book including edition, copyright statement, copyright year, copyright holder, license, ISBN, ISSN, ISSN-L, and Publication date.
Adding image assets
Images can be added to to your book from the Book Builder by selecting Asset Manager from the toolbar at the top, or from the Editor by selecting the image icon. See the chapter ‘Adding image assets’ for a step-by-step guide.
