Start writing or upload chapters
To create a blank chapter to start writing into, click the + button in the chapter list on the left of the page, then select the Untitled chapter to enter the chapter.

Click in the white space in the centre of your screen to place your cursor in the chapter. You can click Title (H1) and give your chapter a title.

To upload a new chapter from a docx file, click the cloud upload icon from the left sidebar, and choose a file from your file browser.

Once the chapter name appears in the left sidebar, you can click on it to enter the chapter and begin writing or editing into the uploaded document. Your heading formatting and images from the uploaded document will be preserved.
Your changes within documents are saved automatically.

Collaborate on books
While collaborating on books, only one person can edit a chapter at a time. When someone is working on a chapter their initials will display next to the chapter name, indicating that they have locked that chapter. Others will be able to read the chapter, but won’t be able to make changes at the same time.

More information about collaborating on books is available in the chapter on Book Members in this guide.
