Start writing your book and Import your files
If you want to write your book directly in Ketida, click the Start writing your book button from the Dashboard. By following this flow it is still possible at a later stage to upload docx files. If you have docx files that you would like to upload immediately instead, click Import your files.
See the next sections on Start writing your book and Import your files for more information on these flows.
Start writing your book
If you choose Start writing your book from the Dashboard, you will be taken directly to the Title page where you can enter a title for your book. The title can be edited at a later stage in the Metadata modal. Enter your title, and click Continue.

Once you have entered your Book title and clicked Continue, you will be taken to the Producer page.

To create a blank chapter, click the + button in the chapter list on the left of the page, then select the Untitled chapter to enter the chapter.

Click in the white space in the centre of your screen to place your cursor in the chapter. You can click Title (H1) and give your chapter a title.

Import your files
If you choose Import your files from the Dashboard, you will be taken directly to the Import page where you can bulk upload docx files. Each file you upload will be a separate chapter in your book. Drag and drop docx files from your file browser or click Browse to explore docx files in your file browser. Once you are done, click Continue. You can reorder chapters and import more chapters later.

Once you have uploaded your files and clicked Continue, you will be taken to a Title page where you can enter a title for your book. The title can be edited at a later stage in the Metadata modal. Enter your title, and click Continue.

Once you have entered your Book title and clicked Continue, you will be taken to the Producer page where your uploaded files will load into Ketida in the chapter list on the left.

Click on one of your chapter names to enter the chapter. You can now edit your chapter content and format it as needed. Formatting is generally preserved from your docx files including heading levels and images contained in the files.
